Sensei Steve Fenwick began his martial arts journey in 1994, training in Kyokushin at the Leicester Karate Kyokushinkai dojo. After progressing to 2nd Kyu, he moved to Cambridge in 2001, where he joined the Shidokan dojo under Sensei Don Clift. He achieved 1st Kyu in 1998 before earning his Shodan (1st Dan) in 2001 under Shihan JJ Burnel in London.

Steve played a key role in expanding Shidokan in the UK, founding dojos in Macclesfield and York, with the York dojo established in 2002.

His Shidokan journey has seen him achieve:

  • Nidan (2nd Dan) – Japan, 2005
  • Sandan (3rd Dan) – London, 2007
  • Yondan (4th Dan) – Nice, 2014
    All of these gradings were awarded by Kancho Yoshiji Soeno.

Competition Experience

Steve has competed in numerous Kyokushin and Shidokan tournaments, including:

  • BKK Crystal Palace – 1998, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006
  • Nice Open – 1998
  • Belgian Open – 2001
  • 8th Nice Open – 2002
  • World Cup, Annecy – 2004
  • All Japan Open, Tokyo – 2005

With years of experience in training, competition, and instruction, Sensei Steve continues to be a key figure in Shidokan GB, guiding students on their martial arts journey.
