Sensei Steve Shipp

Sensei Steve Shipp is a dedicated and experienced martial artist with decades of training across multiple disciplines.

His journey began in Kyokushinkai Karate, training under Sensei Claranino between 1976 and 1979 in Enfield and Tottenham. He later joined Shidokan London Dojo in 2011, where he continues to train today. His dedication was recognised when he was awarded Nidan in 2014 in Nice by Kancho Soeno and later promoted to Sandan (3rd Dan) in 2018 by Shihan JJ Burnel.

Beyond Shidokan, Sensei Shipp has an extensive background in other martial arts:

• Shotokan Karate (1983 – Present)
  • Shodan (1st Dan) awarded in 1989 under Sensei Kato (SKI)
  • Yondan (4th Dan) awarded in 2006 under Paul Bowman
• Kyushu Jitsu (1997 – Present)
  • Sandan (3rd Dan) awarded in 2000 under Paul Bowman & George Dillman (DKI)
  • Yondan (4th Dan) awarded in 2006
  • Godan (5th Dan) awarded in 2008
• Muay Thai (2008 – Present)
• Judo (2016 – Present)
• Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (2016 – Present)

Sensei Shipp has also tested his skills in competition, participating in:

• England Kyokushin (2012)
• Muay Thai Inter-Club, St Neots (2012)
• Spirit FC MMA Class B (2013)
