Senpai Nicole Michaels began her martial arts journey at the age of 10, training in Goju-Kai Karate under Sensei Steve Duffy. As a teenager, she competed in numerous tournaments, excelling in team kata, individual kata, and ippon fighting.

In 1997, Nicole represented the UK at the Goju-Kai Championships in Rotterdam, Holland, earning third place in both individual kata and team kata. That same year, she achieved her junior black belt, later progressing to 1st Dan in 2007.

Seeking a new challenge, Nicole transitioned to Shidokan in 2009, drawn to the club’s dynamic training and the inspiring leadership of Shihan JJ Burnel. Her dedication and passion for the art led her to achieve 1st Dan in May 2018 in Nice, France.

Nicole continues to train and develop her skills, embodying the spirit of Shidokan both inside and outside the dojo.
