Here we are at the end of an exceptional year.
Fortunately technology has allowed us to keep in touch with one another and to train regularly.
I would like to thank all the blackbelts but especially Senpei Nicole for continuing the training and keeping our small but perfectly formed group together.
Thirty years ago when Kancho asked me to start Shidokan in the UK I never really thought about what would happen in the future. As the years went by I realized that the strength of any group or “Kan” lay in the depth of its students and blackbelts.
Now I realise we have the basis to continue and evolve with different faces and it’s not just a one man operation.
This year has coincided with my developing a herniated disc which has greatly limited my movement so I am so grateful for the contributions made by all those who have given their time to front the training sessions.
Of course there will be challenges ahead but with the determination that has been shown so far I know that we will come out of this stronger. The affection and respect demonstrated by each and every one of us in Shidokan will sooner or later manifest itself back in the dojo where we can resume our love for the training that we have all missed.
I wish you all a very merry Christmas under the circumstances and look forward to seeing you all in person in the new year.
